Rhynie’s “A Taste of Good Things” is a line up of great regional food matched with local Clare Valley wines. Popular South Australian Jazz musicians will entertain you through the day as you relax and enjoy a glass of local wine accompanied by some great regional food – the music will get the feet tapping! Come along, enjoy and experience the country hospitality of this annual event. The children will have a great time in the playground. There is a limited amount of seating provided, so please bring a deck chair and rug. Sorry no bring your own allowed and pets are permitted on a lead.
Burra Antique and Collectables Fair 2010
The beautifully refurbished historic Burra Town Hall and the school gymnasium will be filled with antiques and collectables for sale for the 19th annual fair. An official opening will take place at the town hall on Saturday 1 May at 10.30am by ABC Radio personality Mr Peter Goers. You will also find seven antique shops in Burra and a free shuttle bus will run between the venues and shops. Refreshments will be available at both the Town Hall and School Gymnasium. You will also be able to get your antiques appraised over both days. All items are for sale and there will be plenty of bargains, entertainment, antique appraisals (AUD5.00 up to three items), cider tastings and sales and live bands.
Clare Valley Gourmet Weekend 2010
The tables are set for the 2010 Clare Valley Gourmet Weekend, South Australia’s finest food and wine festival to be held 15 and 16 May. The region’s premium wines will be expertly matched with an indulgent range of fine dining experiences and live entertainment. Celebrations will include degustation meals and tutored tasting or for those that just want to relax and enjoy the weekend there are a number of venues’s to choose from. The renowned Vintage Tasting will also be part of the 2010 Gourmet weekend, which is a unique opportunity to taste a selection of unreleased Clare Valley wines at various stages of the winemaking process. Balaklava Cup
The Balaklava Cup is a one of a kind event where more than 12,000 people 'take the day off' on a Wednesday in September and travel to the town of Balaklava some 100 kilometres north of Adelaide. It may be for corporate entertaining or just a great day out to relax - whatever the excuse, the Balaklava Cup is a wonderful celebration of country racing. People enjoy the day in stylish race fashion, enjoying the many public bars and food facilities as well as five-star dining in the lavish corporate marquees.
Clare Valley Cup
Surrounded by vineyards, the Clare Valley Racecourse is a beautiful place to be, especially during the festive season. This event caters for the whole family, and really is a special day out. As well as the racing, there are loads of things happening trackside: live music, fashion parades and Fashions on the Field, competitions, heaps of free activities for the kids, and - rumour has is - Father Christmas will be there.
Kapunda Celtic Festival
The Kapunda Celtic Festival is Australia's longest running Celtic celebration. Over the years it has hosted some truly memorable performances from the likes of Sirocco, Maria Forde, The Audrey's, Mara, The Gartloney Rats and many others. The festival provides opportunities for local and young musicians to meet and perform with professional musicians. The festival features various music and singing workshops and competitions. These events provide an invaluable opportunity for upcoming and aspiring performers to meet professional performers. This is all part of a skills development program for local performers.
Marrabel Rodeo
The Marrabel Rodeo is South Australia's premier rodeo with the country's best competitors vying for top prize money. The day promises plenty of action with bull riding, buckjumping, steer wrestling, barrel racing and junior events commencing at 8.30am. The rodeo is organised entirely by volunteers with local community and sporting clubs and groups benefiting from the proceeds since its inception in 1935. The Rodeo is a great family day out with a country show atmosphere. Free weekend camping, full bar and catering, sideshows and live band ‘Diamond Back’ will entertain the crowd at the conclusion of the event until late. A recovery breakfast is available on the Labour Day public holiday Monday. Marrabel is half way between the Barossa Valley and Clare Valley, just 15 minutes north of Kapunda. If you've never been to a rodeo, come and have a 'Bucking' good time at Marrabel on the Labour Day Long Weekend.
